Program Description
Learn about four different artists, mediums and artistic styles, then create your own project in each artist’s style. We’ll end the series with an art show in the library!
September 9 – Edgar Degas - famous for his pastel and oil paintings of ballet dancers, but also sculptures of figures. We will be making our own clay figures.
September 16 – Claude Monet is famous for his water lily paintings, so we will be creating a water scene using alcohol inks on film.
September 23 – Impressionist Mary Cassatt is also famous for her pastel paintings - our pastel paintings will also be amazing.
September 30 – Rembrandt who was creating art during the Dutch Golden Age of painting. Rembrandt was famous for portraits and we will be creating our own self portraits.
Due to the complexity of the projects the program is designed for students in grades 5th and up. There is no cost for students, but registration is required and a 4-week commitment is preferred. Limit 12.
Classes to be taught by Marge Beinkemper and volunteers from the SOUTHEASTERN INDIANA ART GUILD (SIAG)
