Program Description

New spice or herb featured each month. Program presented via Lawrenceburg Public Library District YouTube page. Register to pick up a sample, everyone can view the video starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, on YouTube. You will be notified by email when your sample is ready to be picked up.

August is Star Anise. This intriguing, star-shaped spice is often used in Chinese and Vietnamese cooking. An essential ingredient in Chinese five spice powder, star anise can also be used in simmering meat and poultry dishes and in combination with other whole spices for mulling cider and wine. A warm-sweet seasoning that imparts a licorice-like flavor to desserts, liquors and meats.  Presented by Carisa Bunten of Seventh Street Gifts.
