Important Update Regarding Meeting Usage During Library Renovation

During 2026, we will be undergoing a renovation to better serve the people of Dearborn County.

Due to the renovation, access to the Youth Services Department will be closed to the public during January and February. You will still be able to use the Ewbank Meeting Room throughout this closure, but our procedures for using the room have been modified:

  • Please enter the library via the High St. entrance. This entrance provides direct access to the Ewbank Meeting Room only. To access other areas of the library, you must use the Mary St. or Parking Lot entrances.
  • Once inside, please call our Adult Services Department at 812-537-2775 Ext. 1125. Let us know that you have arrived and provide your group's name. A staff member will come to unlock the room for your group.
  • If you need any assistance at any time during your meeting, please call 812-537-2775 Ext. 1125 and a staff member will come to help.
  • When your meeting has finished, please call 812-537-2775 Ext. 1125 again to let us know. Please leave your clipboard in the room. A staff member will come to lock the room and collect the clipboard. There is no need to wait for us.

We are excited to share our upgraded spaces with you once renovations are complete. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve your library.

Program Description

Program Description

The Creative Writers Guild April meeting will be part of the special National Poetry Month events at the Lawrenceburg Main Library. The suggested prompt for the month is to write a poem to read at the Poetry Slam!

You can be part of one or both of the following events. Register only if you want a Zoom link. Otherwise just show up!

Here are the two events:

English Professor Emeritus Ron Nicholson will present Ten Poems that Rocked the World in celebration of National Poetry Month.

Learn some background on how poetry can affect society, notes on the authors, a reading of each piece, and some context/explanation/tidbits as well as some anecdotes. Robert Frost, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and more.

You can attend this event in-person at the Lawrenceburg Main Library or request a Zoom link. Must register to receive a Zoom link.

After his presentation, the Friends of the Lawrenceburg Public Library District will present a Poetry Slam starting at 7 p.m. You can attend both or either program. If you stay, you are welcome to read a poem you have written in-person or over Zoom. There will be several prize drawings during the Poetry Slam.

During the months of March and April, Lawrenceburg Main Library will be a drop-off location for the Rattle Roundup- in memory of Ron Nicholson's late grandson, Oliver. Drop off new baby rattles in their original packaging to be donated to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
