Program Description

Program Description

Join Dr. Wes Ryle from the Cincinnati Observatory to explore how astronomers use all the colors of light, even those we cannot see, to explore the Universe. The presentation will overview the use of color filters in telescopic observations as well as infrared, ultraviolet, and other types of light used by modern instruments like the James Webb Space Telescope. We'll also have some hands-on demonstrations to show how we can use light to decode the cosmos.

Dr. Wes Ryle has been the astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory since May 2024. He earned his PhD in Astronomy in 2008 and taught physics and astronomy at Thomas More University for 16 years while also serving as director of the campus observatory. His career has been focused on science outreach and education through youth camps, public lectures, and classes.
